Just got a snail mail card from ASMI (Accident Scene Management Inc - the folks that run the trauma classes) with an invite to join something call RoadGuardians.org. Im surprised, it almost looks to be sponsored by ASMI or at least associated to it somehow becasue the care actually came from ASMI as the the return address.

Looks like competition to the RR group. Anyone heard of it before this? Worth joining? Organized enough to be of value to join?

I was surprised. I always thought that ASMI was supportive of RR and its efforts.

I have heard of the group -- Also thru the ASMI 'link' . I'm trying to set up a class here in AZ for the basic ASMI class that will get the first of the certifications out of the way .... Do they seem like a duplicate (spinoff) group ?? SURE DO !! Not sure of the political "who likes who best" tho' . Does anyone know if the RR patches are reflective at night ?

I got the card too. I thought they were working together but I couldn't see anything different about them. I also don't see exactly what they do.

Hi this is Vicki, Director of ASMI and Co-Founder of Road Guardians. I would like to assure all of you that the Road Guardian Program was not created to be in conflict with the Rescue Rider Program at all, quite the opposite! We purposely created a program that encourages and furthers proper education so that the Rescue Riders can fulfill their mission: to provide trained rescuers in the event of a crash or national disaster. We do not plan to form groups or dispatch anyone to events. We believe that what we are offering (incentives and recognition for training) encourages bikers to become ASMI educated and will lead to MORE Rescue Riders! This program fills a gap as well as a need in the motorcycle community for easier access to motorcycle safety resources. We hope that people will start to see motorcycle safety as multi-facted rather than thinking of it as rider education (riding the cycle) as it exists today. There are 6 categories of motorcycle safety that affect injuries and fatalities to motorcyclists and all areas should be addressed in each state. We will have National and Regional Biker's Betterment Conferences (BBCs) to further education and get Biker's together to learn enhanced skills. Rescue Riders will be very involved in our conference in Chicago March 27th! Check out the website at www.roadguardians.org.

Any Rescue Rider can join the Road Guardian Program and we welcome Road Guardian members to become Rescue Riders to volunteer on Rescue Rider Missions, charity events and runs as well as particiapte in the disaster preparedness component.

Rescue Riders acknowlege and welcome the Road Gaurdian Program. The Program enables members to recieve discounts and incentives from many motorcycle safety venues. It will give you opportunity to log your miles as well as utilze an event planner. It offers monthly newlsletters as well as online continuing education and maintain an educational data base. The membership price is nothing compared to all of the benefits and incentives the program offers.

I also encourage ASMI students, alumni and fellow Rescue Riders to attend the National BBC in March. This is going to be one phanomenal educational conference.

Thank you for the clarification Vicki and Teresa. Im glad to be a part of RR / ASMI because I really feel it reaches the motorcycle community in a very needed way. Id like to get further clarification on the requirements for ASMI Assistant Instructor class in April...I see I need to be a 'motorcyclist' on the appl but since im not a driver (but a GREAT passenger) ..not sure if that disqualifies me...can u please clarify and give more info on the RR discount please.
